I have found that texting, although marketed as a convenience feature, is generally not the best way to carry on a converstation about having a device serviced/repaired so please call me in person.
Computers/electronics are like cars or any other complex device. One problem might have many different causes and required repairs. For example, if you call an auto mechanic and explain that your car won't start, he is going to tell you that there are many reasons ranging from simple and cheap to major as to why it won't start. I am unable to provide accurate estimates over e-mail or the phone for this same reason.
I need to see a device in person to provide a proper diagnosis. An upfront $35 diagnostics fee is required for all jobs and is charged on a per device basis. This charge applies towards the repair or purchase of a replacement unit provided the unit is paid for in full and picked up within 7 days after the repair is complete or the diagnosis, whichever comes later.
